Updated: May 9, 2019
By Valerie St-Arnaud, Owner & Founder of Calling Mountains Productions
2018 has been a very successful year for Calling Mountains and without the support from our colleagues in the Sea to Sky Corridor were not sure this much success would have been possible. I personally want to give a shout out to them by recommending them to all of our couples planning their wedding wondering what the best options are for them. You’re debating whether or not getting married in Whistler, Pemberton or Squamish is for you, maybe exploring what these vendors have to offer might help you make your choice. In this blog I will explore the best options for photographers, venues, wedding planners, first look locations and more. Before jumping into it, press play on the edit below for a recap of our awesome 2018 wedding season.
BEST PHOTOGRAPHERS
You might wonder why I've decided not to offer a photography and videography package yet, we're a team of dedicated artists and want to give you our full attention for the medium you have hired us for. In this blog I announce a few of the photographers we’ve had the pleasure of working along side of. If you’ve chosen the Sea to Sky to tie the knot, I highly recommend you hirer a local photographer. Not only will you get the real experience but your photos will be that much better. I have personally worked with photographers out of town and they just don’t know the town as well as the local photographers do. Hours are spent researching and scoping new areas to shoot, like Logan Swayze has mastered and it shows through the success of his business.
Why look somewhere else when you have the best right here! A wedding day can be stressful, it rarely goes as planned and mother nature in the Sea to Sky is quite unpredictable, hiring a local who is familiar with this I think will be a life saver on your big day. Working along side Pascale Gadbois also proves that a wedding photographer is far from just someone who takes good photos, you also need to consider hiring someone that you connect with and has interpersonal skills. She is a champ at entertaining your guests and keeping them relaxed and having fun in front of the camera.
Essentially the options are endless here in the Sea to Sky, and I urge you to consider their services before looking to hire outsiders. Please find the list of colleagues in the Sea to sky I had the pleasure of working with and will gladly continue to recommend their business.

BEST WEDDING PLANNERS
The answer is yes, you should absolutely hire a wedding planner. Most of you getting married in the Sea to Sky corridor will be hosting a destination wedding so hiring a professional who is familiar with the venues, vendors and locations is a must when planning your wedding. Whether you’re considering a full service or day of coordination, consider the wedding planners listed below. Having worked along side Jeremy Postal for at least 15 elopements this past season I can highly recommend you hire him to plan your elopement. His service is quite unique, not only does he get to make your vision a reality by planning your elopement but he also gets to marry you on the day of, how special is this! #onlyinwhistler.
If you’re looking for a full service wedding planner and you want a team with experience consider hiring Sea to Sky celebrations, having worked along side their team for the past few months, they have truly showed us what hard work and perseverance it takes to pull a full destination wedding together. What stands out the most when our couples use a wedding planner is their genuine happiness day of, because they're truly able to enjoy their wedding day without worrying about every little thing that could go wrong. Leave that to the professionals!

BEST VENUES
Let’s be honest, if you’re getting married in the Sea to Sky corridor, everywhere you look is insanely scenic and breath taking but which venue is the most accommodating, unique and romantic. It takes a team of highly experienced and dedicated staff to pull a wedding together, we’ve seen it all and the venues listed below are the best at making your day run smoothly. It’s been no surprise that Nita Lake Lodge and the SLCC are mentioned in my list below. On top of being beautiful venues, their teams work together seamlessly to make your vision a reality .
If you're considering Pemberton to tie the knot, North Arm Farm has been my favourite venue of all time so far. I’m all about outdoor weddings, the feel and look of this venue brings the romance out and truly embraces the rustic outdoor wedding style. Their staff is friendly and make stuff happen! Pemberton has been getting very popular for weddings, no offence to Whistler but I find it a little more intimate and the Mount-Currie mountain in the background will make all your married friends jealous when they see your wedding photos and the breath taking backdrop we have in our backward.

Canadian Wilderness Adventures - The Callaghan
Pemberton
BEST FIRST LOOK LOCATION
Probably the most romantic moment of your day… Of course you want a sweet, romantic and scenic spot to experience it. If you’re still debating whether or not you should have a first look think no more. If you think about it the reason why couples used to not see each other until the ceremony was because marriages used to be arranged so you would walk down the aisle, vailed and then revealed to marry someone you had never met. Where’s the romance in that?
In Pemberton, the most scenic and intimate first look location is Mackenzie. You get Mount-Currie as a backdrop and it gives for the most scenic and romantic first look photos ever.
In Whistler, Nita Lake Lodge has multiples locations for a first look, giving you flexibility depending on your vision. With a lake just in front you can choose from a romantic first look by the water or a private moment on the suspended bridge leading to a remote forest for nature and rustic photos.

FOOD

I don’t even think I need to stress the importance of having good food on your wedding day. It’s a must and I highly recommend your consider these companies when making your decision.
The Whistler Collective Kitchen
BEST FLOWERS & CAKE

Ensure every detail is personalized, flowers have been a tradition for weddings for ever and choosing the right one can be difficult. Here’s a few options we think will not disappoint!
BEST MUSIC & DJ
I don’t know about you but I love to hit the dance floor at weddings, but if the music ain’t right I’d rather keep eating the multiple treats and call it a day pretty early! That’s why you need to consider hiring a DJ for your wedding day.
BEST DECOR AND EVENT RENTALS
Somewhat overlooked but a fundamental part of your wedding day. We’ve all been guilty of spending hours on Pinterest trying to envision our perfect day. On a plus side you have chosen the Sea to Sky as your wedding destination, the surroundings and nature already calls for a scenic and beautiful wedding but to make your wedding perfect you’ll need to plan your theme and decor and let these guys run you through the endless possibilities for your wedding day.
